Following on from my post on my home school plan for my children I thought I would share some more links. With places from parks to museums closing down, and people being told to stay home there are fewer options for going out. However there are loads of ways you can bring the outside world into your home with a virtual tour.
As part of my home school plan I am going to encourage my children to access some of these in order to break up their daily learning. With the power of the internet they can visit places around the world that we cannot take them to in reality.
Visit a Zoo
Lots of Zoos have tours and web cams to let you meet their animals. San Diego Zoo has a website for kids with animal facts and videos. View the web cams at San Diego, Edinburgh and Dublin. There are also animal cameras at Wildlife Trust in Cumbria and farm animals at Folly Farm in Pembrokeshire. Have a look under the sea with the virtual tour of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. You can also check out the Shedd Aquarium twitter account to see their penguins go on a trip around the aquarium – so cute!
Tour a National Park
There are so many beautiful national parks that you can take a virtual walk around. Lots of these are available through Google Earth. Google Earth is an amazing resource if you want to see the world from inside your home.
You can visit lots of amazing National Parks across America, including: Yosemite, Yellowstone, Death Valley, Everglades, Grand Canyon,

Within the UK there are so many beautiful National Parks and they have virtual tours too. Visit the Lake District, Snowdonia or Yorkshire Dales. Click here for a full list of Google Earth virtual tours of UK national parks.
Night at a museum
Several of the major museums around the world have access to their exhibits through their websites. There are several tours on the Louvre website. Take a walk through the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History or the Natural History Museum in London. The Vatican’s virtual tours include a trip around the beautiful Sistine Chapel. The British Museum will take you on trip through time.
Explore amazing places
Fancy a look around Buckingham Palace or The White House? Maybe you’d like to visit the Statue of Liberty. You can see inside the Houses of Parliament and Anne Frank’s House or explore the amazing Taj Mahal. You can even go to NASAs Mission Operations and then off for a trip to the International Space Station.
Take a hike
You can virtually hike around lots of incredible places, and not even feel tired at the end of it. Why not visit the Pyramids at Giza? Or see Mt Fuji in Japan. They say you can see the Great Wall of China from space, but you can also see it from the comfort of your sofa.
Go on holiday
The parks themselves might be closed right now but you can virtually visit Disney Parks. The Orlando SeaWorld virtual tour includes a trip on their rollercoaster for any thrill seekers out there.
Watch a show
settle down and watch the incredible Circe du Soleil. They are streaming bits of their shows at

Those are some of the places we will be visiting. What other locations offer a virtual tour for us to go on?
